Genes examined

TRPM1

The Leopard Complex (LP) causes the characteristic leopard spotting pattern in horses. The extent of white patterning is influenced by additional genes such as PATN1. Horses with two LP copies (LP/LP) are affected by congenital stationary night blindness (CSNB). The DNA test determines the LP genotype.
